Check Culture Differences Between Japan And Your Country

Everyone must feel culture differences when you visit foreign countries. So this time, I’m going to share you that Japanese culture for a person who deiced or planning to visit Japan.

Free facial tissue

You can see a person who is giving a small facial tissue pack. That is an advertisement so you can take it as free. If you are from Singapore, don’t need to hesitate to take it.

Witch side should be opened on the escalator?

It is common to open the one side for walking up/down when you are on the escalator in the world. In Japan, there are two rules. In the east of Japan, open the right side. In the west of Japan, open the left side. This is interesting, isn’t it. The habit is changed depends on where you are. It is a very confusing thing even to Japanese when they visit another region.

Credit card

Japanese still love using cash.(I don’t know why… I prefer using a credit card.) So you can not use your credit card sometimes when you visit a restaurant. I recommend you to ask that you can use it before you order.

Food court / Fast food

When you’ve finished eating at the food court or fast food(e.g MacDonald, Subway, etc.), you have to return your plates to returning box. Some people might think it’s common to do it. But I know that there is no habit in Singapore. Shop staffs take your plates after you leave. So you just can leave it in Singapore.

Sound of camera

You will hear the sound of the shutter when you visit a theme park, restaurant and so. Then you might think why they don’t mute it? or you might be annoyed from it. Japanese loves taking photos with that sound? No, they just can not mute it.

Manners on the train

Japanese don’t call on the train usually. It is rude a bit. Why? What is the difference between talking with your friends and talking to your phone? Whatever this is the culture. It might be when you talk on the phone, your voice becomes louder than usual.

How were these? I hope you’ve become strong for culture differences a little now ;).
