Do you know when is holiday season in Japan? So today, I’m going to share you when is the long holiday seasons. Because I think it helps you to consider that when you should come to Japan.
So I picked up several terms.
Spring vacation
Spring vacation is from around March 25 to April 6 usually. This is for students. Workers don’t take holidays in this term usually. In this term, many movies for kids show on screens because of that. And you can see Sakura in this season. So many parks and aside rivers which have sakura will be crowded.
Golden week
What is the golden? Ii is just a name for a week because the week has 4 national holidays and weekend. (April.29) (May.3) (May.4) (May.5) Many workers take holidays to connect each blank of holiday and weekend.
Summer vacation
Many schools are closed until the end of August from July 25 as summer vacation. Students go out to sightseen spots, beach, a town as same as tourists.
Obon
Obon is from August 13 to 16 generally. Obon is a kinda ceremony for the soul of ancestors. People goes back to their hometown / grandparents house and pray for it. Workers usually connect one or two holidays to this term as summer vacation. So highways will be jammed during this term especially August 15.
Silver week
The Silver week is the term around the third Monday of September. There is 3 national holidays and weekend during this term.
Winter vacation
For students, Winter vacation is from around December 25 to January 6. For workers, it’s from December 30 to January 3. Many shops are closed from December 31 to January 3 traditionally. Nowadays, there are many convenience stores are opened 24/7 through even this term. Then you can buy a “Fukubukuro” at this time. “Fukubukuro” is a lucky bag. The bag is staffed many items more than the price but you don’t what inside is.
