If you’ve not decided what to do around Tokyo Area, would you like to go to Kawagoe? So today, I’m going to introduce Kawagoe and reason why I recommend going there.
Where Is Kawagoe?
Kawagoe is located in Saitama Prefecture. You can get there around 1 hour from Shibuya or Tokyo by train.
It does not sound far, isn’t it? So go here in the morning, and then come back at noon or evening. You still can go anywhere to eat dinner and so.
Kawagoe is known as famous as sweet potato. There are many foods are related it. This is sweet potato pie I bought at Kawagoe Station. The area I want to share you is a little bit far from the station so let’s eat this one before your walking. I think you can alive there in 20 mins if you don’t lose your way haha. By the way, of course, this was tasty.
You Can Feel Old Tokyo(Edo)
After you arrive this area, Streetscape will change to old buildings. That looks like an old Tokyo 200 years ago. By the way, this area name is Koedo actually. This main street is around 200 meters long. You must want to drop by each shops.

Old Clock Tower
When I went this Tower, it was underconstructed. I still felt good atmosphere. So I think you can do too.
Golden Dango
As I wrote, Sweet potato is famous here. But I found most delicious food is not related sweet potato haha. This is it. It’s called “Ohgon Dango”. It means golden rice dumplings. This rice dumpling is very soft. The brown source is Miso. The combination of this rice dumpling and miso is amazing! I highly recommend you eat this.

On More Information
I recommend you to come to Kawagoe before 4 pm because many shops will be closed around 4 – 5pm. I was suprised about that.
